Durante o Mês da Herança Hispânica/Latina, recordamos a força e a resiliência e celebramos as contribuições económicas, sociais e culturais da vigorosa, corajosa e diversificada comunidade hispânica/latina da nossa nação. 

O último ano e meio expôs e exacerbou as desigualdades raciais e económicas, uma vez que muitos dos trabalhadores da linha da frente que têm mantido este país a funcionar são membros das nossas comunidades negras e castanhas. Desde o início desta crise sanitária, os proprietários de pequenas empresas e os empresários mudaram rapidamente, e fizeram-no sendo engenhosos, criativos e resistentes. Eles não desistiram.

Enquanto continuamos a enfrentar esta situação, honremos e celebremos os empresários do sudoeste de Detroit e as suas famílias que continuam a trabalhar com dignidade e respeito. Muitos são imigrantes de primeira geração que estão a tentar manter-se firmes e empresários de segunda geração, aprendendo com os seus pais como continuar o seu legado. A luta continua, mas o amor desta comunidade por quem são e pelo que fazem dá-lhes força para continuar.
